Publications and Areas of Research - School of Earth Sciences, Real Estate, Business and Informatics (SERBI)
Introduction
The School of Earth Sciences, Real Estate Studies, Business and Informatics (SERBI) has evolved into its present name after the merging of the former two Schools, namely: School of Geospatial Sciences and Technology (SGST and School of Real Estate Studies (SRES)). Currently, the School is comprised of seven (7) degree programmes as shown below;
a) Bachelor of Science in Land Management and Valuation (BSc. LMV)
b) Bachelor of Science in Property and Facilities Management (BSc. PFM)
c) Bachelor of Science in Real Estate (Finance and Investment) (BSc. REFI)
d) Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance (BSc. AF)
e) Bachelor of Science in Geoinformatics (BSc. Gi)
f) Bachelor of Science in Geomatics (BSc. Gm)
g) Bachelor of Science in Information Systems Management (BSc. ISM)
Why Did the Merging Take Place?
The merging was occasioned by a need to:
a) Strengthen organizational and administrative capacity
b) Increase students’ enrolment
c) Optimize service delivery to meet the three core functions of the Ardhi University (teaching, research and consultancy).
Research Activities
The major research focus areas in SERBI include the following:
a) Securing land tenure in rural areas;
b) Functioning real estate markets;
c) Rural land resources management
d) Land acquisition, compensation and resettlement;
e) Valuation Accuracy;
f) Real estate market cycles;
g)Cadastral Surveying
h) Topographical Surveying
i) Mining Surveying;
j) Engineering Surveying;
k) Geographical Information System (GIS);
l) Land Information System (LIS)
